UNDER THE MIDNIGHT RAINBOW, OSAKA, JAPAN WORLD EXPO

Under the Midnight Rainbow was the nightly show and centerpiece of Expo 2025 Osaka. Up to 2,500 visitors gathered under the open sky to share a collective 25-minute ritual blending light, water, fire, and multimedia artistry. The show was designed by the ECA2 team under the creative direction of Naoki Tanaka.
Drawing on Japanese and French creative legacies and inspired by the animism, anime and manga, it created a distinctive emotional language without relying on narration, accessible to all generations transcending cultures and languages. By the end of Expo, over 20 million people had seen the show! |
